Each year, since 1983, the President of the UnitedStates recognizes outstanding kindergarten–6thgrade or 7th–12th-grade mathematics and scienceteachers by bestowing upon them the PresidentialAward for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The 2010 PAEMST program will honor kindergarten – 6th grade sciencewith a $10,000 award and recognition ceremonies in Washington, DC. NanoTeach is recruiting teachers for a year-long, nationwide pilotprogram starting in the summer of 2010. Utilizing the Designing EffectiveScience Instruction (DESI) framework, teachers will learn to integratenanoscience and technology content (NS&T) into their existing curricula.Through lessons and experiences that model the DESI instructionalframework, participants will investigate dynamic NS&T content whiledelving into strategies that support effective science teaching.
