Yemen is located in the southern west of the Arabian peninsula, situated within one of the major active tectonic plate called the Arabian plate , and closed to the well known active seismic zone of the red and Gulf f Aden.

The extension spreading center in the read sea and transform fault in the Gulf of Aden as the main impact, which reflected by epicenter locations.

Historical seismic and volcanic activity in Yemen

742-1899

The historical earthquakes have taken care by Yemen and Islamic history, they

had been observed and documented many Reviewers and references, based on the effected and damaged on lives and earth surface.

The worldwide Instrumental seismic observed events within Yemen

1900-1994

YemenThe seismic recording events during the 19 the century has been detected depend on the worldwide seismic stations.

In behalf during that time Yemen strongly effected by some destructive big and moderate events such as the Sadah event with ML=5.6 in 1956 and 13 dec. 1982 in Dhamar with ml=6,

After December 13,1982 Dhamar earthquake. Was The first time to use seismic instrument in Yemen

After 13th Dec. 1982 at the Dhamar province in the (central PLATEAU), with Magnitude: 6.0 it was as the biggest event Stroked in Yemen land , it was also the first time to look and understand about instrument needs so we had been started with one MEQ-800 portable instrument for observed and detected the aftershock events. It was the first time in Yemen to use the seismic instruments.

In 1993 the National Seismological Observatory Center (NSOC) Installed the SSA-2 strong motion network. After one year i.e. on November 1994 . A short period (SP) network station installed and finally a telemetric network station installed in 1996

The Etna is designed to send and receive communications in a variety of ways. The recorder can be connected to the PC directly from the RS-232 port via an RS-232 cable.

The Etna can also be connected to the PC via two modems.

The physical connection between the recorder and the PC is invisible within QuickTalk,
