    Our tradition is innovation______

Ever since its inception, FLEXIM has been among the pioneers in the field of ultrasonic flow measurement. Many years of application experience combined with innovative concepts and solutions have allowed FLEXIM to extend the scope of the ultrasonic technology to non-invasive measurement of gases.

Now, with the FLUXUS® G series, FLEXIM sets a new standard. Special transmission technology combined with powerful software algorithms and intelligent adaptive signal processing gives these instruments the dependability you have come to expect from FLEXIM.

FLEXIM's ultrasonic gas flow meters use the proven

    clamp-on transit-time correlation technique also

employed for the F series liquid meters.

Special ultrasonic transducers are simply clamped

onto the outside of the pipe and never come in contact

    with the gas.

The FLUXUS® G series contains a broad variety of

transmitters and transducers: from basic models for

standard applications up to robust measuring systems

for offshore use or for use in hazardous areas.

    Adaptive Signal Processing______

In order to maximize the signal to noiseratio, an optimized transmission processfeaturing multipulse excitation was developed. The versatile measurementalgorithm automatically adapts to thevarying application conditions. Thus, disturbing factors such as beam dispersaland structure-borne pipe noise can beeffectively compensated.

The FLUXUS® G series instruments usedigital signal processing. This enablesthem to adapt easily to a great variety ofmeasuring tasks. Up to 1000 raw signalsper second are transmitted for signal processing and analysis.

FLEXIM's signal processing algorithmsreflect many years of experience inextracting desired signals and rejectingunwanted noise signals. Thus, even weaksignals of only a few μV are reliably detected and processed.

    Wide dynamic range amplifier______

The FLUXUS® G measurement amplifieroffers a uniquely wide dynamic range byincluding various frequency filters whichare automatically tuned to the appropriatetransducer frequency. This is particularlyadvantageous in the case of clamp-on ultrasonic gas flow measurement, whichhas to contend with very low signal levels.

Ultrasonic flow meters natively measurethe actual volumetric flow. The transmitters feature an integratedflow computer which makes use of external temperature and pressure data to convert the actual volumetric flow intostandard volume (mass) flow based on ISO 12213-1.

In principle, flow measurement is possibleon all types of gases. However, whenmeasuring on metal pipes, a certain minimum pressure is required, dependingon the composition of the gas and the pipe material. Plastic pipes will supportoperation at atmospheric pressure.

Our application engineers will be pleased to advise you.

    Technical Data_____

The Transit Time Difference Correlation Principle makes use of the factthat the time of flight of an ultrasonic signal is affected by the flow velocity of the carrier medium. Like a swimmer working his way acrossa flowing river, an ultrasonic signal travels slower upstream than down-stream.Our instruments work according to this transit-time principle: an ultra-sonic pulse is sent downstream through the medium, another pulse issent upstream. By measuring the transit-time difference, the flow velocity can be determined. The volumetric flow is then calculated out of the flow velocity and the pipe parameters.

  • Two transducers types providing a uniquely wideapplication range ______

All FLUXUS® G transmitters support bothlamb wave and shear wave transducers atall transducer frequencies. In this way themeasuring system can be optimized to theprocess. The Lamb wave transducer isideal for high velocity gas measurement asfound in natural gas pipelines. The shearwave transducer covers a wide range ofpipe diameters and wall thicknesses. It’sthe best choice for mobile measurementand application diagnostics, as well as for thick-wall pipes.

    Robust construction ______

All FLEXIM clamp-on transducers arewatertight and especially made for use in harsh industrial environments. Thetransducer housings are made of PEEK or PPSU with stainless steel protectioncaps. Robust construction and ruggedwiring guarantee long-term stability andmeasuring reliability.

    Paired, calibrated transducers______

Each pair of transducers has been wet-flow calibrated at the factory. All calibration data is stored in a transducer-resident non-volatile memory and is automatically transferred to the trans-mitter upon connection. Consequently, parameterization errors are eliminatedand there is never a need for a zeroadjustment.

    Robust transducer mounting fixtures______

The Variofix mounting fixtures hold thetransducers safely in place and ensurecontinuous and constant contact pressurebetween the transducers and the pipesurface, even if temperature variationscause the pipe diameter to change. Madeof stainless steel, they are corrosion-proofand wear resistant. The transducers canbe removed and remounted onto theVariofix rail without readjustment.

The offshore mounting rail is made tomeet the highest operational demands –right down to the very last bolt. The rail is seawater-proof and providesyour transducers the highest protection they deserve.
