Transcript of Nocturnal Show

Growing up in Rutland and being drawn to old school graffi ti from an early age

meant that Snik had little visual inspiration with the exception of the tracksides of Nottingham and Leicester. It wasn’t until he started travelling that his eyes were opened to the full potential of Street Art.

Particularly inspired by the works he saw in Melbourne, he started to create his own multi-layered stencils with painstaking attention to detail, transforming bricks and morter into a fl uid motion of colours and greyscale.

Effortlessly transitioning from urban streets to gallery spaces, Snik has taken his art to a more refi ned level. Working with complexity

and precision, no longer confi ned by stencils, he has been drawn to the canvas and the experimentation of techniques and mediums afforded to him, all the time, merging the aesthetic of the stencil with fi ne art.

Snik has exhibited globally in Melbourne, London, Tokyo, Bristol, Paris and Berlin and will be showing his solo debut 'Nocturnal' in London with Delamain Arts at The Gallery in Redchurch Street.

In this exhibition darkness is the prevailing theme and one which has inspired the artist for some time. This exhibition is a celebration of light and shadows, drawing the viewer into a nocturnal world.

sn

Snik has spent the last 12 months tirelessly working on new techniques, images and materials, whilst of course staying true to himself by cutting over 180 of the most ridiculously intricate stencils out there. We’ve been blown away by the work and whilst admittedly we’re biased, we know you will be too!
