Area of intervention: the plant’s main shed
the main shed of the factory, in its current state: An enormous, deserted industrial space.
The vision: the plant’s main shed, rendered into a new, lively main street.
The concept: inverting the shed, creating a new main street

A Linking Artery
The development of the main shed is a trigger for the creation of a main artery between the plant and Nesher.
The artery is inlaid with various places of interest, such as a commercial and industrial zone, science center, a green park etc., which "pumping" the urban activity along it.This artery can also be extended towards the open areas south of the plant.
Connecting the mountainwith the lakes
The urban plan lays two perpendicular systems which are different from one another: while the gray system is responsible for the sustaining and linking between the new urban center and the city, the red system links between the area’s scenic resources: the Carmel mountain and the plant's lakes. This system seeps through the built areas of the urban plan and through the main shed, and connects various landscapes - the Carmel Natural Reserve and the quarry in the west, with the lakes and the fields of the valley in the east.
Phases of evolution
As a first and a generating phase, a new intensive urban center is created within the existing main shed. In the next phases, the center expands around the shed, in the rest of the plant's facilities. The new development that created is gradually expanding along and across the linking artery which begins at the main shed and continues towards Nesher. At the final phase of the urban strategy, the neighborhood of Givat Nehser, which is the closest to the plant, expands towards the new urban center, through the abandoned plant's quarry, and thereby "completes" the urban sequence.
