No More Plastic Bags for

Yard Waste! Plastic bags are bad for the environment they get torn and mixed in with yard waste. That becomes part of the mulch that we use in our gardens, and those microplastics end up in local streams, affecting water quality.

Beginning this spring, Fairfax County will be working towards ending the use of plastic bags for yard waste.

What can you do instead?

• If you are a landscaper, talk to your customers about this change.

• Let the grass clippings fertilize the lawn.

• Use tarps to move leaves, clippings, and other yard waste from the lawn to the truck.

• Use durable cans or paper yard waste bags.

¡Aviso - No Mas Bolsas Plásticas

Para los Desechos de Jardín!

Las bolsas de plástico pueden dañar el medio ambiente cuando se fragmentan y se mezclan con los desechos de jardín. Esta mezcla se convierte en mantillo para jardines. Esos fragmentos plásticos terminan en arroyos o aguas locales y afectan su la calidad.

Comenzando en primavera 2020, el Condado de Fairfax va a finalizar el uso de plásticas para los desechos del jardín.

¿Que puedes hacer en su lugar?

• Si usted es paisajista, informe a sus clientes sobre este cambio.

• No recoja los recortes de grama cuales sirven como abono para el césped.

• Utilice lonas para transportar las hojas, recortes, y residuos de jardín al camión de desechos.

• Use contenedores reusables o bolsas de papel para la recolección de hojas.
