NEWS Caring, Confident and Respectful Learners
Dear Parents, Carers and Community
There is no doubt this past week has been difficult and stressful for every-
one – students, teachers and families. As we continue to face the effects of
the pandemic, we need to be mindful of our emotional wellbeing. Please
contact the school if you need support.
Children will inevitably pick up on the concerns and anxiety of others, whether this be through listening and observing what is happening at home or at school. Providing opportunities to answer their questions in an honest and age-appropriate way can help reduce any anxiety they may be experiencing.
You can do this by:
• speaking to them about coronavirus in a calm manner • asking them what they already know about the virus so you can clarify any misunderstandings they may have • letting them know that it is normal to experience some anxiety when new and stressful situations arise • giving them a sense of control by explaining what they can do to stay safe (e.g. wash their hands regularly, stay away from people who are coughing or sneezing) • not overwhelming them with unnecessary information (e.g. death rates) as this can increase their anxiety • reassure them that coronavirus is less common and severe in children compared to adults • allowing regular contact (e.g. by phone) with people they may worry about, such as grandparents, to reassure them that they are okay
The Premier has stated that schools in NSW will remain open however, for practical reasons she has encouraged parents to keep their children at home. If you have chosen to keep your child at home due to concerns around COVID19 please ring and inform the school. This is so we can adhere to Department policy and enter in the reason for leave.
The official advice from the authorities is changing quite quickly. Please keep watch on the Facebook page or the school website for updates. I expect the official advice to change as early as this afternoon. Greg Edwards Relieving Principal

FROM THE LIBRARY The theme for the library display this term is
‘Under the Sea’
Well spotted last week, so this week you are looking for the
Brain coral.
The brain coral lives on reefs along the coat of Queensland, the
Northern Territory and Western Australia
The brain coral breeds in two ways. This is one way!
The first way, called buddying, increases the size of the colony. The
polyps divide, each forming a second polyp close by, which soon grows
to full size. All the polyps keep laying down more of the hard skeleton
appear underneath them. In this way the whole brain coral colony
grows larger.
Our books this week are:
“10 Green Geckos” written by Phillip Gwynne. There were 10 green geckos living in our house, But when one green gecko got taken by a mouse, There were only nine green geckos living in our house.
“On our way to the Beach” written by Sofie Laguna. Have you ever dreamed of wonderful things you’ve never seen? Come along on a magical family holiday, where every day brings a new adventure.
Today a reader
Tomorrow a leader

Hello Friends,
There will be a two-day workshop being held on 4th & 5th of April
2020, mark your calendar and save these dates. Below is a photo of
the quilt we will be making. This quilt can be made with scraps of fab-
ric, jellyrolls or meters of fabric with many colours or just three colours. These
workshops are always fun and a great way to catch up with friends, swap
quilting ideas, have a chat, relax and unwind.
