LOCATION
New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses – that of the North Island, or Te Ika-a-Māui, and the South Island, or Te Waipounamu and numerous smaller islands .

New Zealand has a mild and temperate maritime climate with mean annual temperatures ranging from 10 °C (50 °F) in the south to 16 °C (61 °F) in the north

NATURAL PARKS
Fiordland National Park occupies the southwest corner of the South Island of New Zealand. It is the largest of the 14 national parks in New Zealand, with an area of 12,500 km².

FAMOUS PEOPLE• Sir Edmund Hillary
Sir Edmund Percival Hillary (20 July 1919 – 11 January 2008) was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist. On 29 May 1953, Hillary became the first climber confirmed as having reached the summit of Mount Everest.

Sir Peter James Blake, (1 October 1948 – 5 December 2001) was a New Zealand yachtsman who won the 1989–90 Whitbread Round the World Race.
