New dedicated observation facilities for near-Earth space monitoring

Molotov I., Agapov V., Sokolov N.Roscosmos delegation

29th IADC Meeting Berlin, GermanyApril 11-14, 2011

Detection and warning automated system of hazardous situations in Near-Earth Space

Goal of grant of Roscosmos

• Creation of dedicated facilities for automated system of hazardous situations in Near-Earth Space and to improve the ISON (in first turn in Western hemisphere)

• Faint fragments discovering and tracking• Surveys of high-elliptical objects• MEO objects observations

International scientific optical network

Under grant of Roscomsos:

• Four dedicated observation facilities with 3 telescopes in each (40-cm, 25 cm and double 19.2 cm)

• Two separate telescopes – 50-cm and 65-cm • KIAM expeditions visited Argentina, Armenia,

Brazil, Bulgaria, Far East of Russia, Italy, Mexico, Mongolia, North Caucasus, Venezuela to select places for new observation facilities installation

Obtained results

• Subsystem for faint fragment observations is improved

• Survey subsystem for GEO region is finished • New subsystem for tracking the bright GEO

and HEO object is arranged• Creation of dedicated observation facilities for

automated system of hazardous situations in Near-Earth Space is on the way
