NNSS• Located ~65 miles northwest of

Las Vegas, NV

• Approximately 1,360 square miles of DOE controlled land

– Only 10% of NNSS lands disturbed by historic and current program activities

• Historic mission: Research and development of nuclear weapons

– Currently undergoing characterization and clean up

– 98% of investigations and corrective actions at surface contamination sites completed
