In February 2014 the public traffic operator A.R.S.T. (Sardinia, Italy) has signed a contract for the delivery of 4 two-car Diesel-
electric low-floor railcars designed for the 950 mm narrow gauge routes Sassari-Alghero and Sassari-Sorso. The contract includes
a four-years program of full-maintenance and service. A 2nd order for further 5 units has been signed in December 2015, with
delivery starting from mid 2017. Each DMU car is equipped with one motor bogie and one trailer bogie; if necessary the two cars can
be separated from each other for maintenance purposes. Both cars have low-floor access which allows PRM passengers and older
people an easier access. The drive system is arranged above the motor bogie in order to guarantee, even in case of high gradients,
an optimal adhesion as well as high tractive effort. The Diesel engines provide high performance and fulfill the newest stringent
Euro-3B emissions requirements. All the main components are easily accessible for vehicle maintenance.
