Cubism

Invented in the early 1900s by Picasso and Georges Barque

Type of abstract art (to take out) Subjects are broken apart and pieces of

them are abstracted (taken out) The artist then puts the pieces of

his/her subject back together in interesting ways

Cubism

The artist paints the pieces from different angles, in different colors, shapes, and sizes.

This is done to represent the subject of the painting in many ways at the same time

Painted in 1937 to depict the horrible acts happening during the Spanish Civil War
