If fate called our bluff And wishes were granted,Would we be well pleased Or disenchanted?

We could wish for homes In both Paris and Spain,And always turn left When we boarded the plane.

At first we would welcome Our dreams coming trueBut that bubble would burst As all bubbles do.

If we were all gifted - Singers, dancers et al -Who could entertain us And keep us in thrall?

If everyone were A brilliant athlete,Would there be an Olympics Where equals compete?

Now here’s the rub And my notion is toughWould all wishes granted Ever be enough?

Imagine the conflict Between husband and wifeWhich would surely lead To trouble in life.

If she wished to look Hepburn But he wanted Mae West,Would either be thrilled By their partner’s request?

If he were clean shaven And dressed in a suitAnd she wished he were rougher And tougher - hirsute ?

So let’s vote on it folks. Who’s brave out there?Who wants wishes granted? Hands up - if you dare!
