At the end of the lesson, you will be able to recognize the UNESCO
natural world heritage sites in the Philippines and appreciate their beauty
and importance by applying the concept of harmony through landscape
painting that shows the illusion of space that will help you improve your
painting techniques and your ability to see color and values.
Specifically, you are expected to:
1. recognize the UNESCO natural world heritage sites in the Philippines
and identify the parts of a landscape painting and the concept of
harmony;
2. illustrate a basic landscape scenario that clearly shows the parts of a
landscape painting and the concept of harmony;
3. explain the importance of the UNESCO natural world heritage sites in
the conservation and preservation of the environment; and
4. create a landscape painting showing any of the three UNESCO natural
world heritage sites in the Philippines.
These will lead you to become a future landscape painter.

WHAT IS IT?
The Elements of Art
There are 7 elements of art. These are line, shape, form,
value, and texture.
Did you notice something? If yes, probably you noticed that space
and color are emphasized.
According to (Essak, 2019) space, refers to the distances or areas
around, between, and within components of a piece. Space can
be positive or negative, open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-
dimensional or three-dimensional. Sometimes, space isn't explicitly
presented within a piece, but the illusion of it is.
Color is the quality of an object with respect to the light reflected by

COLOR
Three Properties of Color
1. Hue - It is the name of the color as it
is labeled on the color wheel.
Example: red, yellow, green
2. Value –It refers to the darkness and lightness of a color. When the color
is very light, it’s high value. When the color is very dark, it’s with low value.
3. Intensity – It refers to the brightness or dullness of color.
Color Harmonies
1. Analogous – three colors that are next to each other in the color wheel
Example: blue green – green – yellow green

2. Complementary – colors that are opposite each other in the color wheel
Example: red and green
3. Triadic – made of three colors that are equally apart on the color wheel

Categories of Color
1. Warm colors – colors that are described to be aggressive
2. Cool colors – colors that have a receding quality or less intense
Color Modifications
1. Tinting – a mixture of color with white to reduce darkness
2. Shading - a mixture of color with black to increase darkness
3. Toning – a mixture of color with gray
Examples:

mountains, beach, lakes, gardens, etc.
