James now has 1,889 points for her career. Next on the list is Ashley N. Hayes (2005-09) who has 2,007 points. On her current pace, James would overtake second place in the next six games.
Career-High For CraneBrianna Crane scored a career-best 21 points in MSU’s contest against UT Martin January 6. The freshman went 9-of-10 from the field and also added six rebounds in the loss.
Richardson Catches FireIn MSU’s loss to SEMO January 4, freshman Leah Richardson had the best game of her young career as she scored a career-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including hitting 4-of-5 from 3-point range in the loss. Richardson also notched a career-best three steals on the night.
Miss DependableJasmine Borders is the only Racer who has started in all 17 games this season. MSU has used 10 different starting lineup combinations in its 17 games this year.
Borders Named College Sports Madness Player of the WeekFor her weekly performance against Miss. Valley State (Dec. 18) and Alabama (Dec. 20), Jasmine Borders was named the College Sports Madness’ OVC Player of the Week. Borders averaged 16 points per game in the two games and had three steals. Borders led the Racers in scoring in both contests.
Career-High For BordersIn MSU’s thrilling 64-63 victory over Miss. Valley State (Dec. 18) Jasmine Borders scored a career-high 19 points on the night as she went 6-for-8 from the floor and went 2-of-4 from 3-point range. It bested Borders’ previous career-best of 18 points set against Austin Peay in February of 2016.
Double-Double x2For the second time this season, two Racers recorded double-doubles in the same game as Brianna Crane and Ke’Shunan James both achieved the feat in the November 29 loss to East Tennessee State. James scored 18 points and grabbed 10 boards in the contest while Crane had career-highs in both points with 13 and rebounds with 10. The other time this accomplishment happened, it was in the season opener at Evansville when Bria Bethea and James both had double-doubles.
James Named Player of the Week AgainFor the second consecutive week to open the 2017-18 season, Ke’Shunan James has been named the ADIDAS OVC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week (Nov. 21). James averaged 29 points to go along with 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game against Butler and NKU.
Record-Breaking PerformanceWith her perfect 20-for-20 performance at the free-throw line against Northern Kentucky, Ke’Shunan James set the program record for most made free throws in a single game. The 20 made freebies are also the most made free throws without a miss in MSU history. Both marks break the previous record of 18 held by current MSU assistant Amber Guffey.
Career Win No. 1With the 98-87 win November 18 over Northern Kentucky, Head Coach Rechelle Turner notched her first collegiate victory. The longtime Murray High head coach recorded 460 career wins in 21 seasons at MHS, the 20th-most career victories in Kentucky state history.
Another Career-High For KJKe’Shunan James set a new career-best Nov. 18 against NKU as she poured in 37 points on the night. The outburst is the fifth 30-plus point performance of her career. James also tied a career-high with nine assists in the victory over the Norse.

This marks the second time that the tandem has scored 20 points or more in the same game. The other came February 4 of last season against Belmont when Bethea scored 26 and James had 20.
Career-High For BetheaBria Bethea’s 28 points in the season-opening loss at Evansville (Nov. 12) is a new career-high for the senior. James Named to Preseason All-OVC TeamFor the second consecutive season, Ke’Shunan James was named to the Preseason All-OVC Team at OVC Media Day back in October. James led the league in scoring last season, averaging 21.6 points per game during conference play and was 17thnationally in scoring overall at 20.5 points per contest, while her 594 points were the fifth-highest single-season mark in program history. UT Martin, who was picked third in the poll, received the other two first-place votes. Coaches and SIDs were not allowed to vote for their own team in the poll.
A New EraRechelle Turner enters her first season as the head coach of the Racers after spending the past 21 seasons as the head coach at Murray High School. While at MHS, Turner compiled a record of 460-178 and helped lead the Tigers to 13 All-A Region 1 championships, four Region 1 titles, five District 4 championships and the 2016 All-A State title.
