OCTOBER 2017 Our school council met on October 3rd,
and even though the turnout was light,
we did have some new parents at-
tend. When I speak with colleagues, I
am reminded of how lucky we are here
at Muirhead to have such and energetic,
committed group of parents. It is a
pleasure to work with the team.
Muirhead has been working with an ear-
ly years coach, Mr. Nathan Wellman has
been in our kindergarten and grade 1
classes working with students and teach-
ers. Kindergarten teachers are having
professional dialogues about the new
kindergarten report cards and reporting
structures.
Our primary division will work with Mr.
Wellman on working with small groups
of children and we will continue our
coding and robotics initiatives..
As always thank you for trusting us with
your children, they are a terrific group of
people and make me smile every day.
Happy Autumn,
Baila
MUIRHEAD NEWS DEAR PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
I have finally sat down to write the
newsletter. I apologize for it being so
late.
It has been a very busy opening at Muir-
head as our enrollment has risen signifi-
cantly. We will soon be welcoming a
new English as a Second Language
teacher to our staff next week once the
hiring process is complete.
September was very busy and our morn-
ing meal program is up and run-
ning. Thank you to the parent volunteers
who come every morning to make us a
terrific meal. Please know the students
at Muirhead are grateful. I know there is
always room for more cooks. If you are
able to volunteer to help this program
please come and speak to Nafees Hu-
mera or Natalia Glavina.
Our meet the teacher night was a won-
derful success. Thank you parent coun-
cil for organizing pizza for everyone. It
was wonderful to see so many parents
and students out for the event.
As many of you have probably heard, there is a great
buzz in the Muirhead Community. Not only will we be
hosting our annual Fun Fair on Saturday, May 12th but
we will also be celebrating Muirhead Public School’s
50th Anniversary on the same day. We are trying to reach
former Muirhead students to help make this event a
memorable one. What better way to do this then to use
social media. We have recently set up a Facebook page
dedicated to this special event. Please feel free to take a look at our page entitled
Muirhead Public School’s 50th Anniversary or you can access the site through the
following link:

Please feel free to share with friends and
neigbours that have previously attended
Muirhead.

THIS YEAR’S TERRY FOX RUN A GREAT SUCCESS
This year’s Terry Fox Run at Muirhead P.S. was a great success. We started with our kickoff
assembly back in September where we set a goal of raising $500.00, which was more than Muir-
head had raised in the last 15 years with the exception of one year. The students were motivated
and participation in the run was full and enthusiastic.
From that fun and enthusiasm came results. Thanks to our dedicated students, their generous
parents, and our fantastic staff, we broke new ground shattering our old fundraising record for
The Terry Fox Run. I’m proud to announce that Muirhead Public School collectively raised $800.85. That's more than
double our 15 year average!
Thank you to everyone who followed Terry’s lead and made this year’s run possible and incredibly successful.
