CLASS SCHEDULE AND OFFICE HOURS

FLOOR PLAN OF THE THIRD FLOOR

ObjectivesTo instruct students on modern graphics and modeling fundamentals for engineering design.

Some things you will learn:• freehand sketching• drafting techniques• geometric modeling• visualization methods• computer-aided drafting and design• data reporting

ME 302 students will complete a team project introducing the modern engineering design graphics process using 3D rapid prototype modeling.

J. H. Earle: GRAPHICS FOR ENGINEERS, Addison-Wesley Publishing Company, (latest edition).

Workbook:

• large bow compass

• 10” 30x60 transparent triangle

• 6” 45x45 transparent triangle

• combination scale

• mechanical “Pentel” pencil

• eraser – soft plastic block or pencil-type

• HB grade lead for compass

EQUIPMENT

Attendance • Lecture and Manual Lab (~2 hours)• Computer Lab (~3 hours)• 1 Hour lecture on Monday afternoons• Absences excused only with written statement

Expectations

Conduct • No food or beverages in labs or classrooms at any time.• Courteous and respectful behavior expected at all times.• You may leave room without permission if quiet, temporary, and infrequent.• Complete scholastic honesty.

Grading PolicyPOINT SYSTEM • 20 points each for manual graphics sheet and 60 points per CAD Lab• 150 points for each of 3 quizzes• 150 points for CADD Lab #9 (ME 210)• 450 points for final exam• 1000 points for ME 302 Lecture portion

GRADES • A = at least 90% of total points• B = at least 80% of total points• C = at least 70% of total points• D = at least 60% of total points• F = less than 60% of total points

PENALTIES • 1% of total grade for each un-excused absence• 20% loss of points for assignments one period late and un-excused• 100% loss of points for assignments more than one period late and un-excused
