Modern Art

There are many types of modern art, but we are going to learn about two

different types.

Pop Art

• Pop art started in the 1950’s.

• Artists started using every day items and ideas to create art in non-traditional ways.

• Artists used their art to make a point or suggest a meaning.

Your Assignment

• Open Photo Booth (Open finder window: Click on the blue smiley guy at the top of your doc. On the left menu bar find APPLICATIONS. Photo Booth is an application).

• Click on effects. Choose Pop Art.• Take 5 pictures of yourself by clicking the

camera button. • Choose your favorite and print it. Make Sure

you select the color printer. ONE COPY ONLY!

Pointilism

• Pointilism was an artistic movement starting in the 1880’s.

• These artists used points or dots to paint.

Your Assignment

• Take ONE profile shot of yourself in Photo Booth. Print it.

• Open KidPix and try to recreate your profile using only dots. They can be big dots or small dots-Long dots or short dots.

• Use a variety of colors.• Save your work in: School Folder/6th Grade/Art

Projects. • When you are finished you can print ONE copy.
