Deer Permit Area Boundary Changes Along the Moose RangeDeer Permit Areas in Northeast Minnesota were realigned to better reflect where deer and moose are on the landscape, reduce disease and parasite transmission from deer to moose, and enhance management of both deer and moose. Within primary

moose range, deer will be managed at lower, but stable densities. Outside of primary moose range, deer will be managed for higher densities. The change was proposed in 2016 but delayed till 2017 in order for the DNR to clarify that deer would not be

managed below goals established in 2014 (25% increase). These changes affect 2016 deer permit areas 122, 127, 176, 178, 180 and 181. These changes are reflected in 2017 deer permit areas 130, 131, 132, 133, and 176, 178 and 181.
