Head Coach Debbie KiickDebbie Kiick was named Millikin's first full-time head softball coach in June 2007. With 12seasons of high school softball coaching under her belt, including Mount Zion (1982-83)and Warrensburg-Latham (1992-01), Kiick compiled a 168-67 (.715) record. She hascoached 29 years of summer softball ranging from age group teams to traveling competi-
tive leagues, developed a traveling fast pitch youth league and has given pitching lessons. As a player,Kiick suited up for the varsity softball team at Eastern Illinois University from 1976-80 and played forand trained under current Illinois State head coach Melinda Fisher. She has also been mentored byMargie Wright, a former professional pitcher, pitching coach for the first Olympic softball team and cur-rent head coach of Fresno State University. Kiick is also the Head Volleyball Coach at Millikin.
Assistant Coach Denise PratherDenise Prather returns for her second season as a softball assistant coach. Prather is aMay 2009 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor ofScience degree in Kinesiology-Concentration in Athletic Training. She played one year ofvarsity softball at the University of Illinois and three years on the Illinois Club team.Prather has softball coaching experience at the junior high and club girls 16 and underlevel.
Assistant Coach Lane Dunakey Lane Dunakey is back for his fourth season assisting with the Millikin softball program. Dunakey bringsover 15 years of softball experience to the program. He served six seasons as the head coach atSangamon Valley High School from 2002-06. He has also coached multiple youth teams ages fivethrough 16. Dunakey works full time at Archer Daniels Midland Company..Assistant Coach Starla StreetStarla Street joined the Big Blue softball staff as an Intern in 2011 and is back to work as an assistantcoach for the 2011 season.

In her fourth season heading the Millikin softballprogram, Coach Debbie Kiick has assembled a teamshe believes has the talent to compete for the top of theCollege Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin.
The 2011 edition of the Big Blue is a young teamwith no seniors on the roster, but the team features 11letter winners that have gained valuable experienceover the last two seasons. Millikin went 24-16 last season and the Big Blue are ready to improve on thatrecord this season.
This year’s team features six juniors with twoyears of varsity experience including five players thatsaw significant time in the starting line-up overthe last two seasons. The group is led by theteam’s top hitter and pitcher from last seasonWhitney Schafman. Last year, Schafman batted.377 with nine doubles and 22 RBI. On themound, she went 16-5 and led the Big Blue witha 2.56 ERA. Schafman’s performance earnedher a spot on the 2010 CCIW All-ConferenceSecond Team and a Player of the Week honor.Schafman hit .343 in her freshman season.
Catcher and third baseman KathleenCampbell is back after earning All-ConferenceSecond Team honors last season. She led theBig Blue with seven home runs last season. In2009, Campbell was also named to the CCIW All-Conference Second Team after batting .305.
Colleen Bryan returns after hitting .321 lastseason with five homeruns and a team high 33RBIs. In 2009, she was named to the CCIW All-Conference First Team after winning the CCIWBatting Title with a .444 batting average in 14conference games.
Catcher\outfielder Jenna Anderson and outfielder Caitlin Reed are also back after earning significanttime in the starting line up in the last two seasons. Millikin’s top pinch runner for the last two seasons,infielder Jess Oller also returns in 2011.
The Big Blue sophomore class returns five letter winners including four starters from last season.2010 Big Blue Rookie of the Year Cora Jeffers returns after starting 38 games last season in center fieldand turning in a .279 batting average. Ali Moss is back after batting .267 splitting her 28 starts betweenthird base and catcher. Tess Strang is back after earning the Big Blue’s Most Improved Player award lastseason when she started 35 games at second base. The Big Blue’s number two pitcher from last season,Lauren Kitterman, returns after appearing in 18 games in 2010. Sophomore Jan Ellis is back after seeinglimited varsity action, but gaining valuable experience for the Big Blue junior varsity team. The team islooking for Ellis to contribute on the mound and at the plate in 2011.
The Big Blue added several key players for 2011. Coach Kiick believes several of these playersshould make solid contributions for the Big Blue this season. Heading the group is junior Tosha Ellis. Thespeedy outfielder transferred to Millikin after completing a solid career at Rend Lake Community College.Decatur Eisenhower graduate Melissa Lamb returns to the mound after transferring from RichlandCommunity College.
Freshmen Meghan Matthews and Ally Edwards are competing for starting spots for the Big Blue.Another group of freshmen including Rachel Bishop, Amy Chromachak, Hillary Lambert, MikaelaOstrander, Dana Owens, Hillary Shelton, Emily Szemprunch and Kasie Woodworth are all ready to showCoach Kiick how their skills can help the Big Blue as 2011 season begins.

CCIW HISTORY
College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin History Entering its 65th season in 2010-11, the College Conference of Illinois
and Wisconsin (CCIW) enjoys a reputation as the “Best Small-College
Conference in the Nation.” In NCAA Division III competition, CCIW
schools have accounted for 40 national championships,
including 13 in men’s cross country, six in men’s basketball, five in
men’s outdoor track and field, four in football, three in women's soc-
cer, two apiece in men’s soccer, men’s indoor track and field and
women's outdoor track & field, and one apiece in women’s basketball,
baseball and women's indoor track and field. The conference was formed with nine charter members
(Augustana, Carthage, Elmhurst, Illinois College, Illinois Wesleyan,
Lake Forest, Millikin, North Central and Wheaton) on April 26, 1946,
in Jacksonville, Ill., and opened competition in the 1946-47 academic
year as the College Conference of Illinois. In 1967, the name was
changed to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, to rec-
ognize Carthage, which moved to Kenosha, Wis., in 1962 and Carroll,
which entered the conference in 1955. Carthage left the conference in
1952, but returned in 1961.
The CCIW sponsors 21 sports: baseball, men’s and women’s
basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and
women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and
women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s
indoor track & field, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field,
volleyball and wrestling.
