Information environment

• Libraries were built on a concept that has undergone a revolution.

• Technology change is relentless and disruptive.

What will happen when…

all books are electronically available, accessible and searchable in full text?

all research is made available through open access publishing?

Research behavior used 15 years ago is now inefficient.

The researcher works in a world of new

expectations:

The student…

learns and creates in an environment of new expectations and competition.

Library as Service: Instruction

Traditional library instruction was based on the research tools of the 20th century.

Technological changes make “tool specific” skills irrelevant.

The library is no longer a “something” you learn to use.

Library as Service: InstructionLibrarians partner with both course faculty and students.

Collaborate on the development and assessment of research based assignments.

Integrate library resources and learning materials into course materials and LMS’s.

Engage with the course virtually and in-person.

Partner with writing/tutoring centers.
