INSTRUCTIONS
Ensure the power is off.
Connect the modem and signal meter to the mini-hub
Turn on power
After 30 seconds, the signal strength LED’s will indicate the status of the network connection.
CONNECTION DIAGRAM
5 or more bars displayed VERY GOOD
4 bars displayed OK but low
3 bars displayed POOR
2 bars or less BAD
One LED at each end NO NETWORK
NB. After confirmation of the signal strength - Disconnect the MJB signal tester. This will allow the modem to connect to the server.

INSTRUCTIONS
After the test is completed, please switch the power off.
Disconnect the Smartlink modem from the mini-hub tester and connect to the Smartlink 45 unit.
NOTES
[1] This condition indicates that no connection to the GSM network has been made. Possible causes are...
• Improper antenna connection, no antenna, or faulty antenna. Note operating the GSM modem with no antenna can
cause damage.
• GSM module is too far from available base station.
• Provider network or GSM base station malfunction.
[2] This condition indicates that the modem can connect but is reaching the limits of useful option. The top of the range will
possibly still provide a reliable link, however, atmospheric conditions such as heavy rain may degrade the link further.
[3] It may still be possible to achieve a link to the higher levels. However, it is likely that the link will be intermittent.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
No or Poor connection - check the modem antenna. Check modem position.
Ensure modem is off when check or changing the antenna
FAILURE to connect the antenna can damage the modem
