The Toledo Journal (3 months)PROdUCTION EdITOR / ad dESIGNER: Transitioned office from Pagemaker to InDesign by setting up a new design and production system; taught members to use system; oversaw weekly page production; designed multiple ads and ad proofs for customers.
GENERal maNaGER: Direct daily operations and long-term development of the newspaper, including: • Advise and teach an editorial staff of +30 students on the basics of journalism, photography and media design;• Develop and maintain a newsroom curriculum, and create personalized lesson plans with students receiving internship credit through the university;• Oversee and train a staff of 10 student business employees; • Meet weekly sales goals and create marketing and sales strategies;• Work with directors of the nonprofit Collegian Media Foundation to develop and accomplish long-term institutional strategies.
