With 162 ships active in the Med in 2010 and continued growthexpected in the region, this diverse, all-season destination continuesto draw the attention of the world’s cruise passengers.
Four Mediterranean countries topped the list of most visited cruisedestinations in 2010, accounting between them for two-thirds of 25.3 million passenger visits in Europe.
France took fourth position, with over two million passengers arriving at its ports during 2010. The country now boasts a 11 billion cruiseeconomy, the sixth largest in Europe, and enjoys further strongengagement with the industry through its shipbuilding expertise.
The Seatrade Med Cruise Convention, the region’s largest cruisegathering, returns to France in November 2012, to the country’sleading cruise port - Marseille.

Marseille Provence on the moveMarseille has invested in and developed a great relationship with the cruise industry and the results can be clearly seen in its double-digit passengergrowth. The Phocaean port aspires to reach one million cruisepassengers in 2012, when the opening of a new cruise terminalis planned. Marseille enjoys the status of France’s leading cruiseport and will also be European Capital of Culture in 2013.
