On October 15, 2010, the Obama Administration awarded the Metro Boston Consortium for Sustainable Communities a $4 million Regional Planning Grant to help implement MetroFuture.

Six Areas of Activity

Complete the MetroFuture framework with:• Regional Housing Plan• Regional Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing• Regional Climate Change Adaptation Strategy• “Most Wanted” Datasets

Address Gaps in the Plan

Advance the regional plan locally through:

Expand the impact of the Sustainable Communities Grant by:• Learning lessons through place-based activities•Developing and disseminating best practices, proven protocols, tools• Creating learning opportunities

Break down barriers to smart growth with: •New state laws and programs• Adjusted state spending priorities• Local by-laws and regulations• Trying out approaches that have worked in other states and throughout the world
