EXPERIENCE Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB), New York City, NY Director, Communications and Marketing 2003 ― 2016 Reported to the Chairman and President. Worked closely with the Chairman, President and other thought leaders at RPB to develop and drive a comprehensive communications program, incorporating RPB’s vision, mission, values, and strategic priorities.▶ Branded the organization as “The Catalyst in vision research,” providing a broad stance for the organi-zation’s expansions – beyond that of major grant provider – into new roles as a partner-funder of vision research, convener of vision research-supporting organizations, and driver of advocacy activities. ▶ Developed RPB’s multi-purposed, resource-rich-Web site, which contains lay audience content; private, secure intra- and extramural mini-sites for communications with grant review committees and partner agencies; and integrated databases to track RPB grantee history and productivity.▶ Repositioned RPB’s donor and marketing communications for a lay audience, working collaboratively across business functions to ensure consistency in narrative and brand voice; synthesized research data into compelling copy for various channels including internal, social, marketing and web.

United Jewish Communities (UJC), New York City, NY Director, Communications 1999 ― 2003 Reported to SVP of Marketing, Public Affairs & Communications. Collaborated with the Chairman, President, SVPs and Directors throughout UJC to create a national communications program that would integrate the cultures of newly merging organizations. ▶ Connected UJC (now known as the Jewish Federations of North America) and its member federations, through strategic business communications vehicles, including: Chairman’s updates, leadership briefings, press service stories, national ads, corporate communications, speeches, presentations, e-newsletters, and UJC’s first Annual Report. ▶ Developed the framework for UJC’s Web site, which also served as a template for local federation sites. ▶ Overhauled UJC’s international audio/visual services and ran blended media events.

Home Box Office, New York City, NY Manager, Employee Communications 1987 ― 1998 Reported to VP of Human Resources and Director of Staff Education and Communications. Worked with department heads across HBO to transform internal communications into a central information resource by utilizing print, multimedia and emerging technologies. ▶ Invented one of the nation’s earliest corporate uses of Web technology — the first HBO intranet.▶ Created an interactive Orientation CD to save time while acquainting new employees with HBO.▶ Turned the HBO staff newsletter into an award-winning employee magazine, covering business unit updates, strategic initiatives and HR communications. ▶ Co-chaired the Diversity Council Communications Subcommittee and organized Time Warner-wide symposiums on workplace issues.
