Extension Service in North Dakota
Foreword As we began our Master Gardener Pollinator Initiative, one of our program deficiencies came to light. We had been busy recruiting and training new Master Gardener Interns but we didn’t do a good job of introducing those interns to our more established Master Gardeners. The purpose of this directory is to help us build county and statewide networks. As you plan your volunteer projects, you will now have a resource to reach out to other Master Gardeners in your county and in the surrounding region. Many thanks to our wonderful MG Directory Team for designing this directory to foster a spirit of collaboration! Lou Ann Lee and Penny Seifert have demonstrated incredible professionalism and enthusiasm for this project. Thanks to their efforts, we have a resource for networking with other Master Gardeners in an area.

Program Year
Stakeholder Advisory Council
Eight Master Gardeners (one from each of the eight MG regions) will be invited to participate on the advisory council. The purpose of the council will be to provide policy guidance and input to the Master Gardener Program Director. The term of service will be two years.

Awards Committee
Master Gardeners are doing wonderful, impactful work around the state. This committee of seven individuals will create new awards, call for nominations, and make the final awards determinations. The term of service will be two years.
Shirt Committee
This committee of three members will design our t-shirts, shirts, and other accessories and arrange for shirt printing.

2017 Out-of-State Field Trip Committee
In odd years, the Master Garden Program will travel to gardens outside North Dakota. This committee will plan the trip and make travel arrangements. In 2017, we are thinking about chartering a bus to visit the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Morton Arboretum. Maximum of five committee members.
2018 Master Gardener Conference
The 2018 Master Gardener Conference will be held at the recently renovated 4H Camp in Washburn, ND. This committee of five members will be assembled in July 2017 to start the planning process to select speakers, choose a conference theme, make travel arrangements and arrange for field trips.
International Peace Garden Volunteer Day Committee
Join Kitty Torkelson (Chair) in planning our next IPG volunteer day. Limited to two more members.
Website/Social Media Committee
We are looking for five members to join our committee to plan the overhaul of our MG website, new blog posts, and our Facebook page.
Hunger Free Garden Committee
This committee will support the growing and collection of fresh produce to benefit North Dakota food pantries. All Master Gardeners will be encouraged to plant an extra row of fresh vegetables to donate. In addition, interested Master Gardeners may organize and collect fresh produce from the public in cooperation with their NDSU Extension Office. The number of committee members will not be limited.

We planted all the trees, bushes, installed the edging, fence, etc. I continue the on-going care and he fixes the hard scape. My yard is an ongoing experiment. Sometimes things work; sometimes they don't. I enjoy the interaction of trees, bushes, vegetables, flowers, and the accidents that surprisingly work out. Gardening is staying close to God's beauty, relaxing, and rewarding.

Our first task was to remove the chlorotic silver maples and install pollinator-friendly boulevard and ornamental trees. We also built small raised garden beds for fresh produce.
