The “Benefits” of Hell

Mark 9:42-48

•Attitudes that assure eternity in hell…– “I don’t want to…have to…need to obey the Bible”– “God loves me, right? He won’t send me to hell!”– “I know what is right, but I’m not ready to

change.”– “Hell is a long way off…I’ll think about that later!”

SOME THINGS YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO DO IN HELL

You won’t have to attend all of the worship services of the church

(Heb. 10:24-25)

• There is no worship schedule in hell!• No getting up early and getting ready…• No rest, forever! Rev. 14:11– Darkness, weeping, gnashing of teeth, pain, fire…

• The “burden” of worship removed! 1 Jno. 5:3– What will you inherit? Rev. 21:4-8

You won’t have to worship God(John 4:23-24)

• No more singing, Eph. 5:19; Jas. 5:13– Only hear the torturous cries of eternal misery!– All the singing will be in heaven! Rev. 14:3

• No more praying, 1 Ths. 5:17-18; Phil. 4:6-7– God will not hear you; your chance for that is

forever gone! No answers to prayer will come.– Nothing to be thankful for in hell!

You won’t have to worship God(John 4:23-24)

• No more sermons, 2 Tim. 4:2-4– Length: No concern about its length (Acts 20:7)– Message: Won’t have to complain about it or

ignore it ever again! Isa. 30:9-11– In hell you will wish you had listened to God’s

word! Lk. 16:28-31; Psa. 119:11-12

You won’t have to love your neighbor or your brethren

(Matt. 22:39; Gal. 5:13-15)

• You will be completely alone, without comfort– No family, neighbors, brethren, friends– Outer darkness: Countless souls…yet all alone!–Will you wish you had treated others differently?

Matt. 7:12–Will you wish you had devoted more time to

helping others? Lk. 16:19-21, 23; 1 Tim. 6:18-198

You won’t have to love God (Matt. 22:37)

• No more pleas to obey God, Jno. 14:15; 1 Jno. 5:2-3• No more urgings to sacrifice for God,

Rom. 12:1-2• No more excuses for not studying the Bible,

Psa. 119:97-104• No more appeals to walk by faith, 2 Cor. 5:7-8

You won’t ever have to stand up for the truth (1 Cor. 16:13)

• Facing ridicule for Christ will be in the past, 1 Pet. 4:4 (Matt. 10:28)•Weariness with fighting the good fight of faith

will be over, 1 Tim. 6:12; Jude 3; Eph. 6:10-13–Confrontation over truth will be over!–You will never have to give an answer for your

hope or explain to a sinner that he is lost!10

NO BENEFITS IN HELL!!

• God is trying to save you from the fires of hell!• You will be responsible if you go there,

Rom. 2:6-11–“I don’t want to go to hell; I’ll change before I die!”–Hell will be full of people who said the same thing!–God will give you a just judgment, Matt. 7:21-23;

2 Ths. 1:8-9

•You can escape hell now! 2 Cor. 6:211
