Sex and relationships: A university perspective

climate free from relationship and sexual violence.

• Today we’ll talk about:• Warning signs• Staying safe• Keeping other safe• Reporting and resources

Something doesn’t look right… • Your partner is

controlling or manipulative

• Your partner is physically abusive or physically controlling

• Your partner tries to isolate you from friends and family

• Your partner minimizes or denies his or her abusive/violent behavior

• Your partner is manipulative or coercive about getting you to engage in sexual behavior

unhealthy relationship.

What is Bystander Intervention??

All members of the campus community members can TAKE ACTION to safely

and effectively help prevent sexual and relationship violence.

The Bystander Intervention

Playbook

1.Defensive Split – Step in and separate two people.

2.Pick and Roll – Use a distraction to redirect the focus somewhere else.

3.The Option – Intervene yourself, alert friends of each person, alert an authority.

4.Full Court Press – Recruit the help of friends of both people to step in as a group.

5.Fumblerooski – Commit a party foul (i.e. spilling your drink).
