Focused! Busy!

AHC WEB TEAM

The Drupal transition continues full speed ahead! Milestone: More Drupal sites than UMContent •  52 live Drupal sites

(aiming for 80 total) •  47 UMContent sites

(started at 165)

Top priority: Escape from UMContent

•  Must be out of UMContent by May 2016 The old system will freeze!!!

•  Right away sites work on mobile, easier to update, updates go live quicker

•  We’ve expanded the toolbox •  Creating a great foundation for future

features

Now through May our focus is: Get everyone out of the burning building that is UMContent! Nice-to-haves can be added later.

How to reach us if necessary

•  ahcweb@umn.edu •  Feature and functionality request form •  Half-hour consultation

•  New: Web building open lab times http://hub.ahc.umn.edu/communications/web/about/attend-event

Introducing the AHC Bios System

•  Shared bio data—independent of CMS •  Automates updating, display, and

sharing of bios across AHC units •  AHC Bios System currently being used

on all AHC Drupal sites for bio pages for faculty, staff, residents, and more

•  Made updates to interface and functionality, starting to give access

•  Training and how-to instructions to come

bios.ahc.umn.edu

Shared bio, case-by-case lists List: A list is the page on a website that lists all of the people and links to their bios. There are options on what fields to include and how lists display, such as breaking out by groups, on different websites, sections, and pages.

Bio: An individual’s bio information lives in one central database and is shared across websites and units. When information is updated in the database, that information is updated on all web pages for that bio. It can be used for AHC faculty, staff, residents, and more.

•  If X person works in Y center and Z department, their individual bio will be the same in both locations.

•  There are several options for what information displays and the format for lists, so the lists for center Y and department Z can vary from each other.

Bio page = Same info, comprehensive List = Options for what displays

List examples and standard options on AHC Resource Hub

Not everything goes in the bios system

•  Sometimes people from outside the AHC are part of an AHC center, institute, etc.

•  In these cases, a link should be added directly to their bio in their parent unit so we don’t duplicate what already exists

•  They can still be included on the list page

Key actions

•  Edit bio •  Edit list (e.g., add person to list)

Access

•  Given by list, you access the individual bios from the list you have access to

•  Use x500 login •  We use U lookup for home department

to be listed first •  Shared bios = on the same team

Edit list

Where we’re at •  Web team making bio updates, request

to ahcweb@umn.edu •  Work in progress: Focus has been on

minimal viable product, gathered info from across AHC to get here … just starting to get more users on board

•  Access granted to specific x500 IDs for frequent updaters

•  Second training will be March 7

Q+A developer, Patrik Douša

•  What do you want explained more or to see in more detail?

•  We are recording questions to track on follow-up needed, ideas, information, etc. … we continue to uncover things
