Management and Restriction for iDevices at home:including Wireless access, Recommended rules, Device restrictions settings and recommendations.

Transcript of Managing iDevices at home

Safer use of iDevices:*Management and Restriction for iDevices at home:- Wireless access- Recommended rules- Device restrictions

* iDevices refers to iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches

Wireless Access:If you have wireless access at home you can connect your devices to it but controlling access at home is very difficult.*

NOTE: 3G enabled devices have unfettered access away from home!

* we are researching more into this

Managing use at home:Ideally we are all also training how to use devices effectively and building self control for times when no one is watching!

Managing use at home:- Parents MUST control iTunes and the “restrictions” passcode for users under 13 years.-Parents need access to the device when required.- Only use internet enabled devices in “family” areas.

iDevice restrictions:Some features of iDevices can be turned off or restricted for users.

These restrictions need to work alongside of management and training in appropriate use.

- Restricting Safari does not restrict internet access apps. Safari is also often needed for research.- App purchases need the iTunes password so don’t need to be OFF when a parent/guardian controls this.- YouTube and FaceTime are great resources but need to be monitored.*

- Turning “Location Services” OFF stops some apps from working. ^* to be reviewed over 2012 ^more information on Location Services coming soon

Notes on Restrictions?

more information?!This information will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. For further information, examples of work, app recommendations, app showcase, etc etc etc . ..
