In 1938 he went to Rome where he studied at the Regia Accademia delle Belle Arti. Later on he also Studied in London and Paris. Some of his paintings are to be found in the Parish Church of San Gejtanu in Hamrun, at the Catholic Institute in Floriana, in St Publius Church in Floriana, at the Parish Church of Msida, at Ta' Pinu Sanctuary and the Chapel of the Malta International Airport and in various other churches around Malta.The World Health Organization headquarters in Geneva and the United Nations Headquarters in New York also house paintings by CremonaEmvin Cremona designed most of Malta's stamps from the late 1950s to the 1970s.

Emvin Cremona (1919–1987) was a Maltese artist and stamp designer. He is regarded as one of the best Maltese artists of the 20th century, well known especially for many church paintings. He was born in Valletta and from a young age showed that he had great artistic talent, however as nobody in his family was artistically inclined he was not encouraged to take up art seriously.He studied art at the Malta School of Arts under the direction of Edward Caruana Dingli and Karmenu Mangion. He also studied at the School of Nude under the direction of Josef Kalleja.

The Search for Christ and the Finding of Christ in the Temple

It came to be known that the works, completed by Cremona between 1954 and 1962, were hung in the sanctuary until they were dispatched to Italy for mosaics to be produced. On their return, the paintings were stored in a closet in the church and eventually lay forgotten.Some of them suffered great damage following prolonged dampness and poor storage conditions.

The project for the restoration of the 20 paintings commenced in October 2005 and has been supported throughout by the Bank of Valletta, under the Heritage Pillar of its Community Programme, through a total sponsorship of €23,000. The newly restored collection of paintings opened in 2008
