IRC 67 – Code of Practice for Road Signs

Traffic SignsPurpose:

- To promote highway safety and efficiency

- Orderly movement of all road users on streets and highways

- No advertising message or any other message that is not

related to traffic control.

Traffic Signs

Principles of traffic signs and markings:

• Fulfill a need;

• Command attention;

• Convey a clear, simple meaning;

• Command respect from road users; and

• Give adequate time for proper response.

Traffic Signs and Road Markings MUST BE the primary, and sole , means of communication

between Road System and Road User for efficient navigation
