MAGGETTE BASKETBALLEducate – Motivate - Inspire

Our founder, Corey Maggette, learned a long time ago from the greatest college basketball

coach in the world, what it takes to build a program for young basketball players.

Competing against the greatest players in the world, throughout a 15 year NBA career, Corey learned how to hold himself accountable, work hard and maintain the motivation needed to

reach his full potential.

As a Maggette Basketball player, you are the beneficiary of all this knowledge and wisdom. It is yours for the taking. Now we want to share with you Corey’s core principles that make us

who we are:

#1. Create a culture of greatness.

Expect nothing but the best from yourself, your coaches and teammates.

#2. Earn your place.

Nothing in life is guaranteed. Be prepared to be challenged every time you step on the court.

#3. Be accountable.

You are responsible for yourself. Don’t worry about things outside of your control.

#4. Hard work is an art.

Find joy in getting better. Love the details of the game. Use effort to kill apathy.

#5. Find your motivation.

What motivates you? Figure that out. Use it to become unstoppable.

#6. “I can do all things…”

Be disciplined. Find a higher purpose. Sacrifice petty selfishness for something greater.

#7. Challenge yourself every day.

Always get better by finding ways to test yourself. Don’t waste time being the same player day after

day.

#8. Work on your weaknesses.

Don’t fall into the trap of only doing the things you are good at. Avoid becoming a one-dimensional

player.

#9. Practicing hard makes everything easier.

The harder you practice, the easier the games will be. If you push yourself now it will pay off later.

#10. Be a competitor.

Players who compete, play at both ends of the floor. They never take plays off. And they always

find an edge.

#11. Be a great teammate.

Be unselfish. Make other players better. Be someone who is fun to play with and a joy to be

around.

#12. Be positive.

Be a light in the darkness. Things will go wrong. Help provide solutions. Lift your teammates up.
