country of Iceland.

• It’s Latitude is 64

Degrees North.

• It’s Longitude is

19.7 Degrees West.

• Hekla is a Stato/Composite Volcano.

• It is still active and it’s last eruption was in 2000

• In 2000 Hekla erupted 4 times!

• It has erupted 23 times in the past 900 years

• Hekla is near the

city of Reykjavik.

• About 120,000 people

live near this volcano.

• It is very explosive and

can cause a lot of damage.

• The hazardous level is high.

• This eruption caused much darkness because the volcano continued to erupt for about 3 weeks. The region experienced a lot of death and famine with the volcanic eruption.

• Entire country was covered by the ash.

• This ash goes

into the air and

eventually falls

back down.

• Hekla is about 4892 ft tall.
