Components for l ight ing solut ions.
LUXMATE makes it possible for you toproduce creative lighting solutions. Withits fully electronic digital control gearsuch as PCA ballasts and TEL trans-formers you can dim a range of lampson demand. By means of digital controldevices like the DSI units and sensorsindividual installations can be realised. From simple control with push to makeswitches, to more complex control usingbuilding management systems LUXMATEcovers all demands. The digital techno-logy concept guarantees maximum flexi-bility today and future security.

LUXMATE dimming characteristics
as seen by the human eye
Perfect l ight qual i ty.
People receive about 80% of all infor-mation via their eyes. Light gives ussight. Therefore the better the light issuited to a particular situation, themore precisely information can be gathered, and feeling and moodabsorbed. With LUXMATE differentlight sources can be dimmed digitallyand therefore exactly. LUXMATE satis-fies the requirements of optimal light-ing level and adjusts for individuallighting needs. The digital LUXMATEballasts and transformers utilise alogarithmic dimming curve, that isadjusted to the requirements of thehuman eye.
The human eye is very sensitive in therange of 0 to 10 %, where irregular orsudden changes are uncomfortable. The unique digital concept with the logarithmic curve provides a comfor-table change between 0 and 100 %.Together with the precise digital con-trol provided by the DSI units the fullyelectronic PCA ballasts and TEL trans-formers have the technological meansto provide perfect lighting quality.

Simple instal lat ion despitehigher funct ional i ty.
Simple push to make switches can beused to switch, dim and even programlighting installations. With this flexibleand open system concept there are
Digita l technology.
A specially developed ASIC (Applica-tion Specific Integrated Circuit) andmodern power electronics together
with DSI (Digital Serial Interface) unitsform the peak of lighting control. Unlike the 1-10 V system which usesanalogue signals the LUXMATE systemuses digital code. In this way all the
Advantages of the digital LUXMATE System
All luminaires receive precisely the same
disturbance proof digital signal and give the
same light output.
Simple wiring with 5 core standard cable
(2 x DSI leads and 3 x mains leads).
The non-polar DSI control wires simplify the
wiring and remove a source of failures.
Possible faults on the bus connection are
recognised, false signals are ignored, and the light
output remains at the last correct value.
Failure signals (e. g. lamp failure) can be recognised
by the DSI unit, integration of the return failure
signal in available information channels for central
processing is possible.
Capable of dimming and switching (ON/OFF) with
push to make switches.
Multipoint control with parallel switches.
High-grade, d igi ta l LUXMATE technology guaranteesthe highest control convenience and indiv idualsystem integrat ion.

With the LUXMATE system energysavings of up to 70 % are possible.Such high savings come from both theeconomical operation of the lamp andfrom linking of the PCA ballasts andTEL transformers with daylight sen-sors and presence detectors. Throughthe use of high grade componentsLUXMATE units have a mean servicelife of 50,000 hours within the permis-sible temperature range and a MTBFvalue of 400,000 hours. In additionlamp life will be positively influencedby the use of the LUXMATE system.
Long term tests show that through theuse of optimised warm start of thelamp (pre-heating of the cathodes) theswitching frequency of the lamp canbe increased dramatically comparedwith cold start. The exact digital con-trol of brightness and power meansthat operation in the dimmed modehas no negative influence on lamp life. The LUXMATE units have comprehen-sive safety features. The PCA is con-stantly monitoring it's own performan-ce and the lamp, defective lamps willautomatically be shut down and auto-matically restarted after lamp change. All LUXMATE PCA ballasts and TELtransformers meet all relevant Europe-an norms for safety, performance, quality and EMC (including RFI, har-monics) and are certified by Europeantest houses.
