Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time www.ccasta.org
“Receive, live, and share Christ” - from the CCASTA Mission Statement
The Gospel today talks about making some hard choices that result in Jesus being the most important
thing in our lives. Jesus is not telling us to reject our family or stop loving them, but to realize when we love Jesus above all, it helps us love our family, friends and others better. This Gospel is about having our priorities right and making sure Jesus is the priority. We all know that is not easy. It means making tough choices in our lives to take up our crosses every day and to give our life away for Christ. Those are not easy things for us to do, but it is what making Jesus the priority of our lives needs to look like. At the end of the Gospel, Jesus gives us some encouragement; He will surely not lose his reward. As hard and challenging as it is to make Jesus the priority, to take up our crosses and to live for Him and not ourselves, we need to keep our eyes on the prize that those sacrifices will not be forgotten. For Jesus assures that He will never forget what has been done and sacrificed for Him. When we begin to think the cost is too great or the sacrifice too hard to make Jesus the priority, let us reassure our-selves with the reward promised to those who are truly His disciples.
Loving Jesus
-Fr. John
This past May, when we were still live-streaming all our Masses, Fr. John confirmed a new member, parishioner Diana Hixon. Diana works for the military and is leaving for Hawaii shortly. Here she shares a little of her story: What religion did you practice before becoming Catholic? I have always been Catholic Who was helpful to you along the way? My sister, Karen Hixon, Bob Sutliff for leading and sharing all his knowledge about the Catholic church, Janet Ancheta for also sharing her thoughts and knowledge, Ernie Willinghan for sharing her knowledge and her amazing cooking with the group, and everyone else who was supportive along the way.
Saturday, July 4th Mass All parish offices will be closed on Friday, July 3rd
in honor of the holiday. There will be a special Mass at 9 AM on Saturday, July 4th at Ascension to celebrate
Independence Day.
Welcome
to the
Church! Newly confirmed CCASTA parishioner, Diana Hixon (on the right) with Karen Hixon, her sister at the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Thank You, Msgr. Lizor
After many years of serving each week at CCASTA, Msgr. Joseph Lizor, because of the pandemic and recently turning 88, has decided he can no longer help us on weekends. We are grateful to him for all his faithful service to this parish these
many years. Once we can have large gatherings again, we will have a celebration to invite him and thank him properly for his service. In the meantime, I would
encourage you to send Monsignor notes of gratitude.
Monsignor’s address is: Heartlands
3010 North Ridge Road #C509 Ellicott City, MD 21043
What was your favorite part about the CCASTA Becoming Catholic classes? My favorite part was learning about all the details of the Catholic Church that I did not know before. What are you looking forward to now that you are in full communion with the Church? I look forward to learning more and more about the Catholic church. Welcome, Diana! We’re so glad to have you.
