Quest Diagnostics | 2
Single Test Review
• Some tests listed were panels. Reported using >1 LOINC code, multiple result fields.
• Ex. ABO Group and Rh Type
• Some tests are not typically offered in an ambulatory setting.• Ex. ABO Group & Rh Type in post-transfusion reaction test
• Drug Screens – One order code OR multiple order codes based on various cutoff values?
• Body Fluid tests – Each validated fluid type has its own Order Code and appropriate reference range.
• Ex. Glucose, Fluids: Pericardial, Peritoneal, Pleural, Synovial
• Method vs. Method-less Code?• As the goal is to have a standard concise list, we cannot allow all LOINC codes to be used as
an Order Code

Single Test Review continued
• Selection of Standard Order Code - Single vs. Multi-Slot test• Ex. Borrelia burgdorferi IgG&IgM Ab [Presence] – 22131-7
Borrelia burgdorferi IgG&IgM Ab [Units/volume] – 34148-7Are these the same test kits? If not, the test order name has to be distinctive.
• Anatomic Pathology – Report discrete data in multiple fields.• Supports Cancer Registry reporting
• Microbiology – Ordered by specimen source OR aerobic vs. anaerobic culture OR organism name.
• Reflex tests – Initially a single result LOINC, which may require additional test(s) with additional LOINC code(s) or confirmatory test with additional LOINC code.
