◦ Proactive: has a plan and procedures in place that is organized for academic success

Continuum of Discipline Plans

Use rules to state your specific behavior expectations, not what you want performed.

Limit rules to a maximum of 5.

Examples:◦ Sit in your assigned seat daily.◦ No food or drinks allowed in class.

Why students do not follow procedures:1. Teacher has not thought out what happens in

Procedure: What the teacher wants done.

Routine: What the students do automatically.

Three Step Approach:1. Explain. State, explain, model and demonstrate the procedure.

2. Rehearse. Rehearse and practice the procedure under your supervision.

3. Reinforce. Reteach, rehearse, practice, and reinforce the classroom procedure until it becomes a student habit or routine.
