*Based on survey data from the 2018 Full Bargain and other known data (exiting
staff), your Team established the following goals back in early February:
1) Tweak the agreed upon calendar to include Ingham County changes in
Spring Break and MDE policy changes for DPPD Contact Hours
2) Return Planning Time
3) Additional pay on the salary schedule
*Using the language in the Contract related to Planning Time we have agreed to:
1) Reinstate
Reinstate Article 5.F.2
Reinstate Article 8.D.2
Reinstate Article 8.F.3.
Remove Article 8.C.
The parties further clarify that Article 8.F.2. should not be construed as allowing for a
bargaining unit member eligible for planning time, not to receive it.
2) Teacher Collaboration Time (TC) is not the same as Individual Planning Time (IPT), and
cannot be used to supplant, or otherwise replace the time defined as “planning”.
3) Money from the reduction in the No Planning Time Stipend will be used towards
staffing of these needed LSEA Positions.
4) Classroom teachers that have traditionally received the stiped for not receiving planning
time, will receive a prorated stipend amount of $2,500 for the school year 2020-21. It will be
paid bi-weekly commencing no later than the first pay of October. The first installment will be
inclusive of payment from the beginning of the school year, with subsequent payments
occurring until the second payment in June.
Classroom teachers that have traditionally received the stipend for not receiving planning
time will receive a prorated amount of planning time along with the prorated stipend. The
prorated planning time will be factored as being “half” the planning time as outlined in the
contract. High school will be based on semester, elementary will be based on half the total
defined minutes.
