Property owners in Fire District #7 may burn natural vegetation only as long as the Department ofEcology does not have a burn ban in effect. A burn pile measuring not more than 10’x10’ is allowed.

The fire needs to be attended and at least 50 feet away from any structures.

Before burning, please check with the Department of Ecology by calling 1-800-406-5322 and the District 7 office at 509-674-5371. This is subject to change at any time.

Limited Burning Allowed in Fire District #7

Industrial Fire Protection LevelsBy law, the Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR) uses two closuresystems to reduce wildfire risk on 12.7 million acres of private and state forestlandprotected by the agency.

n Level 1 Fire equipment and fire watch service is required. n Level II Limits certain activities to between 8 p.m. and 1 p.m.n Level III Prohibits some activities and limits others to between 8 p.m. and 1 p.m. n Level IV All operations are prohibited.

Summer Fire Rules: From April 15 to October 15, or later if the fire danger warrants it,the following restrictions are activated:

n Cigarette smoking on forestland is only allowed on roads, cleared landings, gravel pits, or similar cleared areas.

n Fireworks may not be lit on forestland.n Chainsaw use in nonindustrial work must follow IFPL requirements.

can all spark a wildfire.
