• The interactive course design will assist engineering professionals specializing in sustainable design facilities including Schools. This emerging profession will assist you design and deliver integrated daylighting, indoor air quality, and energy efficiency projects to build a school that runs efficiently, saves money, protects natural resources, and provides superior visual, acoustical, and thermal comfort.

Course Summary Lighting For Learning is a course designed to help architects and lighting professionals learn best practices for classroom lighting and controls.
• Upon completion, students will: • Appreciate the history of light and lighting, with special emphasis on
technology, energy efficiency, and its interaction with architecture; • Understand and be able to use basic lighting terminology; and • Comprehend the relationships among light, vision and color • Understand the basic operation and performance
characteristics of electric light sources; • Understand how ballasted light sources operate as a
system; and • Be able to identify commonly used electric light sources
and understand where and how they are applied
