LENNOX STREET TREE WORKS
Tree Species - Norway Maple Acer platanoides
– This is a fast growing tree of large size with good autumn foliage.
– However they do tend to have structural weakness between branches in the tree crown which can lead to branches breaking off.
– The tree also has a substantial shallow rooting sytem which can cause structural damage to footpaths surface and raodside kerbing
Tree outside No 3 Lennox Street
Tree at Junction of Richmond Row & Lennox Street
Tree at 29A Lennox Street
Tree at 16-18 Lennox Street
Tree at 8-10 Lennox Street
Tree at No. 7 Lennox Street
Management Objective:To protect and preserve the tree cover on the street for the long term.
– Undertake selective removal of existing trees and undertake replacement tree planting on a phased basis.
– Undertake a pruning programme of the remaining trees
– As the these trees become problematic or diseased over time and require removal the replacement trees will be establishing and of a size to mitigate against loss of additonal tree cover.
Consultation
– A meeting has taken place with local residents to advise them of our proposals and to agree a works programme for the street trees.
– The residents are currenly seeking a second opinion from an arborist on our proposals.
– It is expected that a further meeting will take place over the coming weeks to discuss their concerns and a report will be forwarded to the next SEA meeting on these discussions.
