Who invented the first electric bulb???

He experimented with electricity and invented an electric battery. When he connected wires to his battery and a piece of carbon, the carbon glowed, producing light. This is called an electric arc.

1860 carbon paper filament worked well, but burned up quickly.

1877 carbon arcs uses for streets, buildings, and some stores

1888Worlds first automatically operated wind turbine in

INCANDESCENT BULB

PROS

•They're inexpensive

•Instantly emit a warm light in all directions

•Accurately revealing the colors of objects and skin tones.

CONS

•They use significantly more electricity than energy-saving bulbs

•They have comparatively smaller life time (about 1,000 hours)

Working

PROS

•Energy efficient than incandescent bulbs

•Longer life span and less energy use

CONS

•Flickering occurs

•Contains unsafe amount of mercury (2-5 mg/30 W)

•Ultraviolet ray emission

One teaspoon of mercury can contaminate a 20 acre lake.

LED

Positives• Virtually indestructible• 100,000 hour lifespan

• Low energy consumption• Symmetrical beam with little-to-no artifacts• Cheap to manufacture

• Available in a multitude of colors without requiring a filter.

• Pure white light means no color will be filtered out.

• Low functioning temperature

Negatives

• Less potential output (for now)• Slightly more expensive to purchase

INCANDESCENT

Positives• Cheap to manufacture & buy• Easier to use

• Generally stronger light output• Better for seeing through Fog and Smoke

Negatives• VERY breakable• Horrible patterns in light

• Hot burning• Heavy on battery consumption• Short lifespan

• Yellowish color filters out anything with yellow in it, IE: White looks yellow, yellow doesn’t show, red looks brown, green looks black.

PROS

•Instant light without flickering

•4 times longer life time than CFL

•Not contains mercury and other hazardous materials so it can be

recycle

•Very energy efficient

CONS

•Costlier than ordinary bulbs

•They are vulnerable to high temperature

LED BULB OVERVIEW

• OLED (Organic LED)

• Self powered LED bulb
