ਧੋਤੀ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਉਤਰ ੈਜ ੇਅਠਸਲਠ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇ ॥

This filth cannot be washed off, even by bathing at the sixty-eight

sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ਸਭ ੁਦੁਖ ੋਦੁਖ ੁਕਮਾਇ ॥

The self-willed manmukh does deeds in egotism; he earns only pain

and more pain.

ਅਠਸਲਠ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਲਰ ਇਸਨਾਨਾ ਭਰਲਮ ਆਏ ਧਰ ਸਾਰੀ ॥

Even if one takes cleansing baths at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of

pilgrimage, and wanders over the whole planet,

ਅਲਨਕ ਸੋਚ ਕਰਲਹ ਲਦਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਲਿਨੁ ਸਲਤਗੁਰ ਅੰਲਧਆਰੀ ॥੩॥

and performs all the rituals of purification day and night, still, without

the True Guru, there is only darkness. ||3||

ੴ ਸਲਤਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਲਦ ॥ One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਇੜਾ ਲਪੰ੍ਗੁਿਾ ਅਉਰ ਸੁਖਮਨਾ ਤੀਲਨ ਿਸਲਹ ਇਕ ਠਾਈ ॥ The energy channels of the Ida, Pingala and Shushmanaa: these three dwell in one place.

ਿੇਣੀ ਸੰਗਮ ੁਤਹ ਲਪ੍ਰਾਗ ੁਮਨੁ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਰ ੇਲਤਥਾਈ ॥੧॥ This is the true place of confluence of the three sacred rivers: this is where my mind takes its cleansing bath. ||1||

ਅਠਸਲਠ ਤੀਰਥ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਦਖਾਏ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਭੀਤਲਰ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਗੋ ॥੩॥

The Guru has shown me the sixty-eight places of pilgrimage

within my own heart, where I now take my cleansing bath.

||3||

ਤੀਰਲਥ ਨਾਵਣ ਜਾਉ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਨਾਮ ੁਹ ੈ॥

Why should I bathe at sacred shrines of pilgrimage?

Naam is the sacred shrine of pilgrimage.

ਤੀਰਥੁ ਸਿਦ ਿੀਚਾਰ ੁਅੰਤਲਰ ਲਗਆਨੁ ਹ ੈ॥

My sacred shrine of pilgrimage is spiritual wisdom within,

and contemplation on the Shabad.

ਲਖਨੁ ਪ੍ਿੁ ਹਲਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਲਨ ਵਸੈ ਸਭ ਅਠਸਲਠ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇ ॥

If the Lord's Name abides within the mind it is like bathing

at all the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

What is the real pilgrimage?

•Place of pilgrimage, real Triveni, is inside of us

•Must stop our thoughts to make this inward journey

•True cleansing bath happens within

•Go where Naam is discussed and find Sant, Sadhu, Bhagat, Braham Gyani, or Gurmukh for instruction
