that the night gave the students an extra performance
experience which will increase their skills in preparation for
delivering their performances to the HSC markers.
Australian National Chemistry Quiz
Success!!
WHS students have achieved a NSW 99 percentile in the
Australian National Chemistry Quiz which is run by the
Royal Institute in Chemistry of Australia through Charles
Sturt University.
Congratulations to all students who participated in this tough
competition, run across and Australia and nearby countries,
participation increasing the skills of higher order problem

‘LOVEBITES’
2010
For three weeks in a row, every Thursday from the 12th to the 26th of August, groups of year 10 students from WHS travelled to Port Macquarie to participate in a day of work-shops titled ‘LOVEBITES’. The sessions were organised by the ‘Hastings Women’s and Children’s Refuge’. The day focuses on relationships, broken relationships, domestic violence and sexual abuse: how to cope if affected, how to recognise ‘symptoms’ in friends, how to help & numbers to ring. At the end of the day (after lunch) an opportunity to debrief by creating either an artwork or a song based on the information/statistics and topics of the day. A very moving day; and a very informative one for students! If nothing else comes from these days, I pray that for those who have had to deal with or be affected by the trauma of abuse, that they might realise that they are not alone, that it does happen, it can happen to anyone, but there is help available. Finally, for those who have not been directly affected by the trauma of abuse, that they may realise how blessed they are and be thankful.
If any student needs to talk about anything regarding the sessions, please, don’t hesitate to contact either Jen Bar-nard (school counsellor) or myself.

WAUCHOPE HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR WATERPOLO 2010
TERM 4
Waterpolo for juniors (15 years and under in 2010)
If you are a competent swimmer (waterpolo is played in deep water), don’t mind going underwater and like team sports, then
waterpolo may be the sport for you. In recent years only girls have played, however there are some keen boys, so if there is sufficient demand we can get some boys matches running. We
need at least nine (9) players who train regularly to form a
team.
Matches are played in Taree early in Term 4. We will need some
parents to provide car transport to Taree Pool, please.
Training for junior waterpolo will start as soon as the pool
opens in the school holidays. This is necessary because we play against people who have winter training facilities, so are
already probably fitter than you.
TRAINING DATES AND TIMES
Monday 27th September 8.00am- 8.45am
Tuesday 28th September 8.00am- 8.45am
Monday 4th October 8.00am-8.45am

Sunday 17th October 10.00am-11.00am (to be confirmed and only if we have at least 14 players)
Other dates may be added depending on the date of matches.
Beginners and returning players are most welcome.
Please give your name and phone number to Mr Hancock if you want to play Waterpolo (then I can contact you if there are any changes to training times)
If you want to play but are NOT available on any of these dates, still fill in the form and list any dates you cannot come.
