Every time you eat foods or drinks containing sugars the bacteria in plaque produces acids, which can damage the tooth enamel.Dentists call this an ‘attack’.

How does our mouth recover from an ‘attack’?

After every balanced meal your mouth reproduces saliva. This helps cancel out the acids produced.Your mouth can only do this four times a day – which is why it’s important to have three meals a day and no more than one snack.

Snack ‘attack’?

If between your balanced meals, you find you do need to snack try not to have more than one and make sure it isn’t too high in sugar.

Snacks like raw vegetables, nuts, cheese or breadsticks are good choices.
