How do you translate “the” in French?

There are actually 4 possibilities!!!

If the word is masculine (or considered as a boy if you prefer), we are going to

use “le”!

If the word is feminine (or considered as a girl if you prefer), we are going to

use “la”!

If the word is plural (= more than one), we are going to use

“les”!

If the word begins with a vowel (a-e-i-o-u) we are going to

use “l’”!
