For a number of years, we’ve been providing the services of our specialist corporate lawyers to
other law firms, who either don’t have that particular expertise, or who simply require extra manpower.
We usually work in one of two ways (although we’re always happy to discuss alternatives):
Deal direct: This is where our partner law firms refer the client directly to us. In this case, we
then send the engagement letter, agree an appropriate fee with the client and ‘deal direct’ with them until the work is concluded. When we ‘deal direct’, we pay you a referral fee of 10% of the net fee (less VAT and disbursements) for that work and a further 10% of any other work which we may receive from that client over the course of the next 12 months.
Sub-contract: This is where our partner law firm maintains the client relationship. You agree the
fee with your client and bill the work yourself and simply sub-contract us to do the work. We can either
work entirely behind the scenes or be introduced to your client as a consultant of your firm. If you choose this option, you simply pay us for the work done, and we still pay you a referral fee of 10% of the amount of the net fee (less VAT and disbursements). You can also choose the amount of ‘uplift’ (over and above our fees) which you ultimately bill to your client.
Once signed up as a member of our network, you can if you wish include our details as
‘consultants’ of your firm on your website and marketing literature, instantly boosting the size and expertise of your practice with the addition of a highly-professional ‘corporate team’.
We only provide corporate law services, which means
that our partner firms can be confident that they will continue to provide their clients with all other types of legal work, with no risk of ‘poaching clients’. Our terms and conditions provide you with a binding obligation from us in this regard.
