Aware of the impact that meetings industry can have on ecosystem and

socio-cultural balances locally and globally, Lago Maggiore Meeting

Industry aims to contribute to the development of an integrated system of

meetings and events offer, inspired by sustainability values.

"Green Meetings by the Blue Waters Lake" project, co-financed by Interreg

Italy Switzerland, focuses the development policies of Lago Maggiore

Meeting Industry on GREEN, in landscape, social, cultural and environmental

terms.

registration. The EU Eco-Management and Audit

Scheme is a management tool for companies and other

organisations to evaluate, report and improve their

Park (with Strona Valley) are working to obtain the

European Charter for Sustainable Tourism, developed by

Europarc - Federation of protected areas, with about 450

members in 36 European countries. 88 Parks in Europe

have already adopted the Charter.

20 Municipalities of Verbano Cusio Ossola and High

Novarese adhere to the Covenant of Mayors, the

mainstream European movement involving local and

regional authorities, voluntarily committing to increasing

energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources

on their territories. By their commitment, Covenant

signatories aim to meet and exceed the European Union

20% CO2 reduction objective by 2020.
